Ahwatukee Self Storage in Phoenix was sold this month to Storage Experts of Orange, Calif., for $1.62 million. The property comprises 25,600 net rentable square feet in 239 storage units and 108 open parking spaces for boats and RVs. Located at 1027 E. Fry Road, the facility was being foreclosed by its lender and the seller had filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The sale was ordered by the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Phoenix.

The sale was negotiated by Bill Alter and Denise Nunez of Rein & Grossoehme Commercial Real Estate, which specializes in the sale of self-storage facilities, shopping centers, office and industrial buildings, and single-tenant leased properties and commercial land. The company also markets shopping centers, office buildings and industrial buildings for lease and represents tenants in site selection.

This transaction is Alters 107th successful self-storage closing in 26 years as a specialist in this property type. He is the managing director of Rein & & Grossoehmes Self Storage Group

Nunez joined the company as a sales agent in early 2010. She has more than 20 years of executive-level experience, having served as division president of MiniCo Inc., executive director of the Arizona Self Storage Association, and CEO of DUX Real Estate Advisory Group LLC, among other industry positions.
