Self-Storage Industry Gets Access to 'Green' Truck Grant Program

Divine Development LP, in alliance with the Agape Foundation and Mobile Master Trucks, has developed the first "green" business grant available to the self-storage industry. The grant offers low-cost use of clean-emissions vehicles to members of certain businesses, predominantly self-storage. It also provides a driver/employee for each vehicle (a type of moving truck), available for use six hours per day, five days per week.

The program is made possible through funds from the non-profit Agape Foundation as well as the use of the trucks as mobile advertising. The grant covers all employee and vehicle costs and maintenance, and gives each participating company 200 miles of driving daily. To make the program accessible to as many businesses as possible, the alliance has chosen to enact a modest program fee.

"We first made the grant program free," said Mel Cooper, director of the Agape Foundation. "However, as we looked at the uniqueness of having the first business grant program available to the masses, we decided that if we made the program self-sustaining, we could serve more individual entrepreneurs and businesses."

Participants can choose from three fee options:

  • Initial program fee $1,900, monthly program fee $350

  • Initial program fee $4,900, monthly program fee $150

  • Initial program fee $9,900, no monthly program fee

"This alliance has the perfect blend of for-profit and non-profit elements," said an alliance representative. "Most grant programs are for non-profit or educational causes; however, we have taken a different approach. We are here to help entrepreneurs and business owners in all industries that we can. By helping them, we are creating jobs for drivers; and the profits the companies make spurs the economy, which creates more jobs and more donations to non-profits and other organizations that can help those in need even more."

The alliance is looking to place 25,000 vehicles and drivers into the hands of entrepreneurs and businesses in the next year and a half. "We are looking into job placement for several thousand members of the Armed Forces that are currently discharged or set to be soon," an alliance representative said.

Divine Development specializes in commercial investments and their parent developments. The Agape Foundation raises and distributes funds to groups working for nonviolent social change.
