Registration is still under way for the industry’s upcoming “business meets pleasure” event: the Inside Self-Storage Summer Expo in Reno-Tahoe, Nev., July 24-27, 2007. Designed for self-storage owners, operators, managers, developers, investors and suppliers, the show will take place at the Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa and Reno-Sparks Convention Center. In addition to four full days of seminars, exhibits, discussion forums and networking, it offers several unique business opportunities:

Add It, an eBay trading assistant, will deliver an opening session titled “eBay It,” addressing how self-storage operators can use the popular auction website as a way to serve customers and build revenue. Attendees will learn how to sell items for current customers, reduce accounts receivable, liquidate delinquent accounts and drive retail traffic.

On July 27th, industry expert Jeffrey Greenberger will present a three-hour Legal Learning seminar. An extension of the popular webinar series hosted monthly by ISS and Greenberger, the new in-person offering will cover important issues every owner/operator should know, including liens sales, facility rules and regulations, abandonment and vehicle storage.

The Developer’s Seminar on July 24, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., teaches the critical aspects of developing a facility, including site selection, feasibility, construction and site management. “How to Invest in Self-Storage,” July 26,8 a.m. to noon, covers the “how to” of purchasing an existing storage facility, performing due diligence, determining property condition, and price negotiation.

ISS has also extended a special invitation to members of the Canadian self-storage community. Attendees will be able to network and share insights with colleagues at the "Self-Storage Canada Social," an evening reception focusing on industry developments in the provinces. A presentation and open Q&A session with a panel of experts will shed light on key development and operational issues.

As customary, the show will include these long-time favorites: the ISS Golf Classic, Prime-Time Open Forum with Jim Chiswell, Buyers & Sellers Meeting, Security & Software Summit, Management Workshop and the evening cocktail reception.

Finally, attendees will enjoy the splendor and recreational diversity of the Reno-Tahoe area, with activities to suit every taste. Interested parties are invited to enjoy a rafting adventure down the Truckee River on July 28th, including a 5-mile float from Tahoe City to the River Ranch Bar, Restaurant & Hotel for lunch. Transportation will be provided from the host hotel, and the cost is $50 per person.

“The ISS Summer Expo is the ideal venue for mixing self-storage education and family fun, and it has incredible business value,” said Dana Hicks, tradeshow director. “Attendees have access to first-rate seminars and experts from every facet of the business. They can share their experiences with industry colleagues. And they can enjoy an unbelievable selection of leisure activities.”
