On Sept. 15, Buchanan Storage Capital will host its sixth annual "Buchanan Challenge for Children" event to raise money for United Way's Success By 6 (SB6) program. This year's undertaking will pit 48 real estate industry teams against each other in competitions of volleyball, basketball, a kayak/run relay, a surf paddle relay and, of course, fundraising. Last year, participants raised $350,000.
SB6 is the nation’s largest network of early-childhood coalitions, focused on improving school readiness through community change. Operating under local United Way organizations, these coalitions raise awareness of the importance of early childhood development, increase access to services, advocate for public policies and improving systems—budgets, laws and supports—to improve children’s lives. In the last 5 years, more than 500,000 kids have benefited from SB6 early learning, child care, parent education, health, literacy and family resource-center programs.
