Artistic Builders Wins Awards

Two Texas facilities built by Artistic Builders Inc., a nationwide general contractor headquartered in San Antonio, won design awards presented by Mini-Storage Messenger magazine. Stor BeeCaves of Austin was named the 2005 Facility of the Year Overall Winner, and Austin Highway Self Storage in San Antonio was named the 2005 Facility of the Year Construction Winner.

Stor BeeCaves, owned by SV2020 Joint Venture, is an 80,000-square-foot, five-story, climate-controlled facility on the side of a forested hill. In addition to its modern design, it includes an office/apartment building and a significant wine-storage area. The steel-building supplier/erector, Capco Steel Inc., used a three-layer waterproof system with corrugated metal panels in an art deco, patchwork-quilt design.

Austin Highway Self Storage in North San Antonio is a 75,525-square-foot, three-foot facility on the edge of the one of the citys most affluent areas. It features climate control, a private conference room, ultramodern restrooms and a beverage area. It also comprises 13 mini offices spaces, all wired for high-speed Internet access and phone service. The buildings are constructed of CMU block exterior walls, steel framing, a section of metal sheathing and synthetic stucco accents. For more information, visit www.artisticbuilders.com.
