Stocks End Week Down

Negative reports on the economy over the last few weeks have driven stocks down. For the fourth week in a row, the Dow Jones and S&P 500 closed low Friday.

Wall Street seesawed most of the week as economic reports were released. More second-quarter earning reports will be released next week.

According to preliminary calculations, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 36.88, and the Standard & Poor’s 500 index lost 3.57. The Nasdaq composite index rose 3.48.
