Going to the Chapel Anyway?

For some, wedding planning is a joy, a sheer delight, a privilege and an honor. For those who aren't on Prozac, however, it can be an intensely nerve-wracking experience. This would explain the growing popularity of destination weddings, which not only tend to be more relaxing, they add a twist of the exotic to a largely traditional event.

My husband and I were married in Pre-Katrina New Orleans. Not only was our event unique (*cough* understatement), the alternative location made it easy to limit our guest list and, hence, our expenses. (Translation: More money for the honeymoon!)

No here's a fun little fact: As many as two dozen couples per day say their "I do's" at the Heart of Reno Wedding Chapel in downtown Reno, Nev. Thinking about tying the knot? Why not bring your betrothed and get hitched during the Inside Self-Storage Reno Expo, July 19-22?

Turns out Reno brags a bunch of wedding bonuses: Chapels open 'round the clock; a simple, inexpensive marriage-license process (no waiting period, no blood test); and a whole slew of options for settings, dining and accommodations. You can even hire one of a multitude of wedding planners to organize and help you navigate through the event.

Imagine holding your ceremony in a hot-air balloon or on a cruise ship. Looking for a mountain setting? Done. Desert vista? You got it. Under water? No problem.

What could be more romantic than a hot-air balloon wedding over gorgeous Lake Tahoe?
