The Self-Storage WOW Gallery: See Facility Design Transformed Through Color, Architecture and Innovative Materials
Rethinking the Self-Storage Exterior
Because self-storage facilities are essentially large buildings with rows of doors, it’s important the exterior has various elements to break up what could be a very bland appearance. Emphasis at the parapets walls (those that extend taller than the roofline) can be accomplished with a cornice of EIFS, while synthetic stucco can create a horizontal decorative molding that crowns a building. In this example, Eldridge Self Storage in Houston features metal canopies to shade expanses of glass. The highly detailed synthetic stucco emphasize entry and the sophistication of the facility.
