ISS Education Brings in the Crowds
With dozens of new speakers and topics, the ISS Education Program packed in the crowds. Bob Copper, president of Self Storage 101, kicked off the show with the Owner/Operator Executive Workshop on day one. His three-hour session focused on operational strategies for staffing, marketing, auditing and revenue management.
Day two started with an opening session focused on health-care reform. Sherri Elliott-Yeary, president of Human Capital Solutions, outlined the three major changes business owners can expect next year as a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act, which goes into effect in January.
During the two days of education, attendees participated in several seminar tracks: Manager Essentials, Owner Essentials, Limiting Liability, Investor Essentials, Building Blocks, Marketing, International and EcoSeminars. Sessions covered an incredibly diverse range of topics including online reviews, customer service, legal liablity, facility expenses, project feasibility, facility valuation, investment trends, development costs, innovative facility design, and much, much more.
The international seminars featured representatives from regions including Australia, Canada, El Salvador, Japan, Panama and the United Arab Emirates. Overall, the ISS Expo attracted attendees from 22 countries.
A majority of the ISS educational seminars were recorded, and DVDs of the sessions are available for purchase in late May in the ISS Store.
