Increasing Visibility Online
Increasing a facility’s Web presence through smart online marketing strategies has become paramount for many self-storage operators. Potential customers increasingly conduct research online when learning about self-storage and researching potential locations to store their property. The marketing education sessions during this year’s expo focused heavily on Internet strategies to help operators better utilize social media and mobile technology, and devise content that engages customers.
Pictured is Mario Feghali, co-founder and chief operating officer, of SpareFoot, an online marketplace that streamlines the rental process for self-storage customers. The company was voted the industry’s Best Online Directory by ISS readers in last year’s Best of Business poll. Feghali and his team are representative of a young, energetic crop of entrepreneurs who have entered the industry with zest and creativity, even releasing a tongue-in-cheek pin-up calendar this year. SpareFoot has also contributed several entertaining videos to the new ISS project Self-Storage TV and will be featured in an upcoming ISS-produced video about connecting with today’s tech-minded consumers.
