Because New Braunfels Storage is easily visible from the well-travelled highway, the exterior design was critical for attracting drive-by customers. "We knew the objective would be to get the attention of the customers by being a billboard for ourselves," said Sally Kauffmann of the Kauffmann Design Group, the architect on the project. "We knew we had to be seen to be successful."

Cantilevered building canopies were incorporated to highlight the display windows and the office entry at the two-story, climate-controlled front building. Automatic sliding doors provide convenient access to the main lobby. A backlit penthouse was built over the second-floor display windows to help get the building noticed. The well-lit building and windows highlight the project's function and let customers know the business is there.

The area is undergoing tremendous growth. A large retail center has already been constructed at this location, and a new hospital, medical offices and fire station are also under construction.
