The installation of kiosks is becoming increasingly common at self-storage facilities nationwide, and the driving force behind their popularity is Phoenix-based OpenTech Alliance Inc., which produces seven models of INSOMNIAC kiosks. The company is perpetually improving its products to include more sophisticated and helpful features, such as two-way video conferencing, demonstrated here by OpenTech CEO Robert Chiti and one of his "self-storage counselors" at the home office.

In addition to kiosks, OpenTech offers the the INSOMNIAC Live! call center and the INSOMNIAC Self Storage Network for online storage reservations and rentals. It recently launched INSOMNIAC Online, which uses cloud computing to rent units on mobile and Web-capable devices.
