Florida Self-Storage Facility Capitalizes on 'Storage Wars' Fame to Raise Funds for Troops

Signature Self Storage at Monterey in Boynton Beach, Fla., is partnering with Forgotten Soldiers Outreach (FSO), a nonprofit organization that sends care packages to soldiers overseas, to host an event similar to the TV show "Storage Wars" that will raise funds for the cause.

The event "Storage Wars for the Troops" will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will consist of a public auction for five units full of donated items. The facility made sure to collect only good-quality items, such as new furniture and gym equipment. "Mystery boxes" containing valuable items, as well as gift cards scattered throughout the units, are also part of the auction. To add to the atmosphere, a car show and children's face-painting will be featured.

FSO Executive Director Lynelle Chauncey Zelnar said the nonprofit will be receiving 100 percent of the proceeds from the event. All auction attendees must have a ticket, and pre-sale tickets are selling at two for $10; but after the pre-sale, single tickets are $10.

Signature Self Storage is a standalone facility featuring units of varying sizes and amenities such as climate control, RV parking spaces, individual door alarms, gated entry and month-to-month leases. A full line of boxes and packing supplies are also available.
