Hazmat Crew Dispatched to Florida Self-Storage Facility

Corkscrew Village Self Storage in Estero, Fla., found itself front and center for a hazardous materials situation, as authorities suspected a chemical stored within a unit may be dangerous. However, after crews sent a robot from the Lee County Sheriff's Office inside the unit, it determined there was no threat.

The source could not determine what the chemicals were, though it did report the chemicals came to light after the unit was sold at an auction and the auction buyers discovered the drum of chemicals. The area surrounding the facility was closed for several hours as a precaution.

Corkscrew Village advertises some unique storage options, such as cigar storage and hurricane storage. Estero is about 16 miles south of Fort Meyers.
