The Tehachapi, Calif., Planning Commission approved the site plans earlier this month for A-1 Self Storage Tehachapi at 101 Industrial Parkway, on the east side of a Tractor Supply Co. store. Construction of the 13-building facility will begin next month, according to the source.

The property will include a 102,814-square-foot storage building and a 985-square-foot office building. Once complete, it’ll contain more than 1,000 interior and drive-up units, the source reported.

“It is a really convenient area, right off the freeway, and it’s a major need in the area because all the mini-storages are full,” said Joel Hecht, a business partner involved in the project.
