Man Charged With Self-Storage Break-Ins in Ione, Calif.

Sheriffs deputies in Amador County, Calif., arrested a man for repeated break-in at self-storage facility near Ione, Calif.

Investigators had been looking for a 1997 Ford Probe they had identified as being involved in several break-ins at Freds Mini Storage. Deputies spotted the car near the facility around 3 a.m. May 4. The car was parked by a section of the security fence that had been cut.

Deputies and officers from the Ione Police Department searched a nearby wooded area for the suspect, Dwayne Allen Hickingbottom, 49. When they captured him, they discovered he was in possession of burglary tools, stolen items and two baggies of methamphetamine. Hickingbottom also had four felony arrest warrants in other counties.
