SSSP Acquisitions III Acquires Florida Self-Storage Facility for $4.6M

SSSP Acquisitions III LLC recently purchased United Self Storage of Bloomingdale LLC, a 59,455-square-foot storage facility in Valrico, Fla., for $4.6 million. The property at 1035 Starwood Ave. is on 4.37 acres and will be rebranded as Simply Self Storage (SSS).

Built in 2000, the facility comprises 666 self-storage units and 12 vehicle-parking spaces. The property is about 20 minutes from downtown Tampa, Fla., in Hillsborough County, the state’s fourth-most populated county, according to BayView Advisors (BVA), the investment-sales and advisory firm that brokered the deal.

Jay J. Crotty, managing partner, and Thomas A. Doyle, senior vice president, at BVA, represented the buyer and seller in the transaction. “The property was available for sale a few times over the past several years, but it wasn’t sold,” Doyle said.

BVA specializes in the self-storage market. Company agents have completed more than $1 billion in transactions in their careers, officials said in a press release.

Headquartered in Orlando, Fla., SSS owns or manages more than 160 self-storage facilities comprising more than 12 million square feet of storage space in 18 states and Puerto Rico. It currently has 11 in Florida. Founded in 2003 by Kurt O’Brien, the company ranked No. 9 on the 2014 Inside Self-Storage Top-Operators List.
