Coakley Bros. Seeks Zoning to Expand Self-Storage Facility in Milwaukee

Moving and storage company Coakley Bros. Co. is seeking zoning approval to expand Stadium Self Storage in Milwaukee. The proposal includes the addition of 125 exterior storage units on 1.2 acres at 4150 W. Burnham St., which is next to the existing facility at 4000 W. Burnham St., according to CEO Peggy Coakley. The exterior units will be marketed to commercial companies looking to store equipment and materials, she said.

The two-story facility was a conversion project that opened last year. The structure was the former home of a company subsidiary, Coakley Tech, which was vacated in 2012. Near the Miller Park baseball stadium, Stadium Self Storage includes 85,688 square feet of storage space in more than 700 interior units.

The city council’s Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee will consider the rezoning change at its Nov. 17 meeting.

Coakley Bros. was launched by brothers Bill and Charlie Coakley in 1888. Peggy Coakley, who became CEO in 1998, represents the fourth generation to lead the business. In addition to self-storage, the company deals in commercial and residential moving, facility management, and warehousing. It’s also an authorized dealer of Office Furniture USA under its Brothers Business Interiors brand.
