Armour Self Storage to Open New Facility in West El Paso, TX

Armour Self Storage, which operates six facilities in three states, is developing a new property in West El Paso, Texas. The four-story facility will comprise 95,000 square feet of climate-controlled storage space. It will feature covered loading docks, a rental office with retail space, two elevators, and rental mailboxes.

Entitlement coordination for the property, which is on the northwest corner of Mesa Drive and Restler, took more than four years to procure, according to company president John Cooper, who owns the 14-acre land parcel. The two acres fronting Restler will be used for the self-storage facility, while the remaining 12 acres, which contain an arroyo, will used as city-designated open space, per a unique entitlement agreement with the El Paso Water Rights Commission.

“After owning this unique property [more than] 20 years, I am thrilled to see the bustling activity in this part of town. The recent construction of Whole Foods validates the prosperous demographics of West El Paso,” Cooper said.

Construction is slated to begin on Sept. 1. Capco Steel Inc. has been selected as the general contractor for the project. James Suerken, a local architect, assisted in the development of the site plan and renderings.

Founded in 1978, Armour Self Storage operates facilities in Milwaukee and Phoenix in addition to El Paso.

San Antonio-based Capco Steel supplies steel components and erects metal buildings, including self-storage and boat/RV storage.
