A-1 Self Storage Donates Money to Meals on Wheels, Cristo Rey Network

California self-storage provider A-1 Self Storage is supporting two charities, Meals on Wheels and Cristo Rey Network, with monetary contributions.

The mission for Meals on Wheels is to start a national movement to end senior hunger by 2020. The charity is the largest national organization composed of and representing the 5,000 community-based senior nutrition programs. These programs provide more than one million meals to seniors each day.

A-1 Self Storage also recently made a monetary donation to the Cristo Rey Networks Expanding the Vision plan. The organization provides college-prep education

within an educational model that includes students participating in their own tuition costs. The model is unique in that students participate in a student-work program, gaining professional skills and building anticipation for their college experience.

The Cristo Rey Network educates 7,400 students nationally and supports 25 schools in 24 cities, all of which have 96 percent minority enrollment. The Expanding the Vision plans goal is to open a new school by fall 2013 and review 25 more potential sites for schools to open in the near future.

A-1 Self Storage has 17 locations in the San Diego County area and more than 40 locations statewide. It is the self-storage division of the Caster Cos., a third-generation, family-owned company headquartered in Southern California since 1959. Caster Cos. develops and manages A-1 Self Storage, A-1 Car Storage and other commercial properties in California. Its portfolio includes more than 4 million square feet of real estate.
