'Stache Storage Talk: SST Member Publicly Grows Moustache, Builds Support for Men's Health

Things on Self-Storage Talk, the industry's largest online community, are starting to get hairy. As part of the global "Movember" movement [http://us.movember.com/about], a charity endeavor encouraging men to grow facial hair from scratch to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's health issues, Self-Storage Talk is getting involved. Moderator Madman, a Canadian self-storage owner and avid community servant, decided to grow his first-ever "flavor-saver" moustache, beginning Nov. 1.

It's no secret the explosion of the Internet has changed media forever. For a place like Self-Storage Talk, the largest online community in the industry and the official forum of Inside Self-Storage, that's a good thing. But for newspapers, generally speaking it's been a bad thing. Print newspaper readership continues to decline, and that leads potential local advertisers, such as self-storage facilities, to question if they should invest marketing dollars in newspapers.

Self-Storage Talk Reaches 4,500 Members; Goal Date for 5,000 Set

Good news to start the week: Self-Storage Talk, the largest online forum in the industry and the official online forum of Inside Self-Storage, has eclipsed 4,500 registered members.* That means since the forum's January 2008 roll-out, approximately 46 months ago, the forum has added about 98 new members per month. It's an exciting achievement, but it's only the beginning.
