Staying Healthy During the Holidays

With cold and flu season at its peak, health experts say the best defense is a healthy diet, plenty of rest and moderate exercise. But during the holidays, many people find this formula nearly impossible.

While food alone cannot protect you against the common cold or influenza, there is evidence that a diet rich in a variety of produce, whole grains, lean proteins and low-fat dairy products contributes to a better-functioning immune system.

Experts also say adequate sleep, exercise and minimal stress can promote wellness and even a faster recovery when ill.
