Self-Storage Managers Launch Blanket Drive for Homeless in Spring Hill, FL

Jody Zaker, property manager at Paul and Jerry's Self Storage in Spring Hill, Fla., initiated a widespread blanket drive for the area’s homeless in November. Zaker, co-worker Charlie Daniels and two others collect and distribute blankets to homeless across Hernando, Pasco and Pinellas counties.

Daniels regularly checks the weather forecast online to see which days will be coldest. Those who deliver the blankets take at least 20 at a time. Sometimes they take as many as 50 per delivery.

Blankets will be collected year round and can be donated at the facility at any time. Blankets can be old or new, so long as they are clean. Jackets, throw rugs and sweaters also are being collected. Volunteers may also launch a food drive. For more information, call 352.684.4414; e-mail [email protected]; or visit www.floridasstoragesolution.com/locations/Spring_Hill-PaulJerrys.
