Butler Manufacturing, a manufacturer and builder of metal buildings for self-storage and other industries, has introduced three energy-efficient wall systems that company officials said will help builders prepare for anticipated changes to energy codes. All three systems—the eShadowall, eStylWall flat and eStylWall fluted—are designed for new and retrofit building applications.
Thermal spacer blocks are field-applied to the systems’ panels at structural fastening locations to prevent thermal short circuits, add depth to accommodate thicker layers of insulation, and increase thermal efficiency, company officials said.
“Buildings account for 36 percent of energy use in the U.S. and are poised to become an even larger target for consumption-saving initiatives,” said Dave Evers, vice president of research and development. “Butler’s suite of highly efficient wall systems provides a method for building owners, facility managers and engineers to achieve code compliance and gain operational savings.”
In terms of exterior design, the eShadowall wall system features deep corrugations and semi-concealed fasteners. The eStylWall flat-wall system uses fully concealed fasteners for a monolithic surface, while the eStylWall fluted-wall system creates shadow effects on building exteriors. All three systems offer features designed to simplify installation.
A full-strength Butler-Cote fluoropolymer finish is applied to the wall systems to protect against blistering, peeling, cracking or chipping. The finish has a 25-year warranty.
Butler Manufacturing, a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, designs, manufactures and markets metal building systems for commercial construction, including self-storage. The company’s systems are marketed through a network of more than 1,400 full-service contractors with local trade areas.
