For the second consecutive year, Steel Storage, a provider of self-storage design and construction services, along with other industry vendors, will host the Self-Storage Expo Asia in Hong Kong, March 26-27, 2014. Amid growing consumer demand for self-storage services in the region, the event is designed for professionals with interest in building, owning or operating a self-storage business in Asia, including investors and new and established operators.
“As Asia’s property prices increase year on year and consumerism seemingly to be an unstoppable force, more and more of Asia’s 4 billion inhabitants move steadily towards the middle-income class,” show organizers said via selfstorageexpoasia.com. “With it comes a transition to modern living, and self-storage is a proven and necessary part of this modernization.”
The expo will be held at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel in Hong Kong’s prestigious Central Business District. The two-day event will include speakers covering a wide range of topics relating to self-storage investment, development and operation. Featured presenters include Simone Hill, legal counsel for the Self Storage Association of Australasia, and Thomas Krendl, CEO of management and consulting firm E.I.M. Group and vice president of SkilCheck Services Inc., which specializes in self-storage employee evaluations. Steel Storage founder Jonathan Perrins, who is credited with creating the event, is also scheduled to speak.
Show sponsor PTI Security Systems, a provider of integrated hardware security solutions for self-storage facilities worldwide, will host an information and training session on the importance of access control and security. Presenters include Lance Comstock, PTI president, and Benjamin Parsad, manager of sales and technical support for PTI Australasia. The agenda will also include industry panels; and a facility tour will be conducted on March 25, prior to the expo. A conference dinner will be held on March 27 at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.
Additional show sponsors include Centreforce Technology Group, an Australian-based company specializing in self-storage software, websites and security; lock manufacturer Chateau Products Inc.; and commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield.
Last year’s event drew about 140 people, with participants attending from various Asian countries, Australia, Europe and the United States, organizers said.
