Denair Self Storage in Denair, Calif., suffered damage to some storage units on Saturday when a freight train derailed as it was passing by the facility. Security-camera footage from the facility shows the 76-car train moving behind the property before it came off the tracks, sending a large cloud of dust into the air. No injuries were reported.
The train, heading north, was not hauling hazardous materials and carried cargo in only three cars, officials said. The accident also caused damage to the railway and forced a long delay on the track, which is used by both freight and passenger lines. Amtrak diverted some passengers using buses.
Firefighters at the scene opened storage units at the facility to make sure no hazardous materials had been spilled or anyone hurt onsite. Officials from Burlington Northern Santa Fe were investigating the incident.
