A-1 Self Storage Supports Big Brothers Big Sisters Program in San Diego

California self-storage provider A-1 Self Storage is providing monetary support to the Big Meets Little program through Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. The program matches children ages seven to 18 (Littles) with adult applicants (Bigs) in a variety of programs including community-based mentoring, school-based mentoring, African-American mentoring, Hermandad-Hispanic mentoring, mentoring for military children and Amachi.

Extensive background checks and personal interviews are part of the matching process. Bigs and Littles are paired based on location, personalities and preferences. The intensive process is made possible through donations.

Bigs and Littles meet for several hours each month to engage in activities they both enjoy such as playing catch, reading, visiting museums and more.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters serves children in need of role models and one-on-one relationships. Participants are often from single-parent homes or growing up in poverty. Some are coping with parental incarceration.

A-1 Self Storage has 16 locations in the San Diego County area and more than 40 locations statewide. It is the self-storage division of the Caster Cos., a third-generation, family-owned company headquartered in South California since 1959. Caster Cos. develops and manages A-1 Self Storage, A-1 Car Storage and other commercial properties in California. Its portfolio includes more than 4 million square feet of real estate.
