Avon Self Storage in CT Gets City Approval for Expansion

The planning and zoning commission in Avon, Conn., approved a request last week to rezone a parcel of land to accommodate a self-storage facilitys expansion plans.

The commission unanimously voted to change the zoning from residential to industrial, paving the way for the fourth phase of Avon Self Storage at 190 Old Farms Road.

The owner, Hutch Haines, put the addition on hold a year ago to wait out the sluggish economy.

The project also required Haines to obtain wetlands permits because the site has a large pond behind it. The application was approved by the Inland Wetlands Commission 18 months ago.

The developer will go before the commission May 17 to continue the expansion application process.
